Other new and commonly used antimicrobial technologies today donít always kill bacteria or other microorganisms on contact. What they do is poison them (usually with a formula that includes a heavy metal like silver) and leave them to die. This could take as long as 24 hours and almost always leaves a "zone of inhibition," which means that some microbes stay alive long enough to adapt or mutate -- or even to produce stronger, more antimicrobial-resistant offspring.

This is the case with the "silver-ion process" which was "state of the art" in its time and there are problems.

Silver-ion products can leach into the environment and kill beneficial species. Tiny bits of silver can flake off of fabrics. Some people are allergic to these heavy metals. Obviously, something better was needed.

How Micro-Texpur® Technology Works:


The technology behind Micro-Texpurís® new product line is based on an exhaustive study of important scientific literature. Careful study of this literature showed that the surface of bacteria has a negative electrical charge. This means that if the bacteria could be brought into contact with a positively charged surface, it could be immobilized.

Further study revealed that the positively charged surfaces of some polymers not only attracted bacteria but ruptured their cell walls on contact, killing them immediately and leaving no zone of inhibition Ė and thus no chance for them to mutate, adapt or reproduce.

By combining these concepts, Micro-Texpurís® new antimicrobial/antibacterial technology was born.

Because of it's unique ion-bonding technology, Micro-Texpur® stays where you put it, kills bacteria instantly on contact, and KEEPS ON KILLING. Depending on it's use, Micro-Texpur's® resilient bond can take up to months before needing reapplication. On textiles, it will not wash off and will last the life of the textile.

In technical terms, Micro-Texpurís® antimicrobial products are co-polymerized monomers of ammonium chloride salt combined with silane (SiH4) chemistry.
